I'm not much for resolutions so that is not an annual thing I partake in. This year I've been following some business blogs. They have strongly encouraged doing a year end review and goal setting for the upcoming year. This is not something I generally do either but I decided to go for it. "Failing to plan is planning to fail"… or so they say.
The review was easy… A lot happened last year with the big thing being our move, and learning to function with more freedom.
As I set on the second step, to set goals, I found myself getting stressed out and overwhelmed. I realized Jack and I have a different way of “setting goals”. Jack and I are dreamers… We dream about our life, where we would like to go, what we would like to do. Then we leave our dreams in God’s hand trusting that when the time is “right” the “door” will open, when we recognize the opening we walk through.
This goal setting exercise reminded me, “We walk by faith and not by sight”. The more I tried to set goals, the more frustrated and stressed out I became. When I let go, giving my hopes and dreams over to God’s timing, I found myself filled back up with peace and joy.
The interesting thing is, my Mom reminded me that of all the people she knows, Jack and I meet our goals more often.
Here’s to the best year yet… Welcome 2013!
